A family's estate on Paje's white sand
White Sand Luxury Villas & Spa sits directly on Paje's beach, on Zanzibar's south-east coast, an hour from the airport by road. A family built the estate after falling for this coastline in 2010, and construction has stayed deliberately unhurried: 19 villas and three Cinnamon rooms, each set on its own garden plot, with no plans to grow larger.
It is the first Relais & Châteaux property in Tanzania and, since 2025, the only address on Zanzibar to hold a Michelin Key. Paje's trade winds have made this stretch of coast one of the world's kitesurfing capitals, and the estate runs its own IKO-certified centre on the sand, alongside two restaurants, The Senses Spa, and a lagoon that turns to shallow, sun-warmed pools at low tide.
