The Mora Zanzibar

Ten hectares of white sand at Muyuni Beach, Matemwe, with 250 suites, four restaurants and a five-minute boat ride to Mnemba Island.

A wide stretch of the north-east coast

The Mora Zanzibar sits on ten hectares of beachfront at Muyuni Beach, Matemwe, on the island's north-east tip. It was reworked from the former Emerald Zanzibar Resort & Spa and relaunched in 2024 under TUI's The Mora brand, with the low, white-washed architecture and gardens largely intact. Mnemba Island and its reef are a five-minute boat ride from the jetty.

The 250 suites are spread widely enough that the resort rarely feels full. Four restaurants cover Japanese teppanyaki, open-flame grilling, Mediterranean beach dining and an all-day international buffet, and The Pause Spa and six pools sit at the quieter end of the property. Stone Town and the airport are around 45 minutes away by car.
