The St. Regis Le Morne Resort, Mauritius

A private stretch of beach beneath Le Morne Brabant, where every one of the 172 suites comes with its own butler.

Beneath the mountain, beside the kite lagoon

The St. Regis Le Morne Resort, Mauritius sits on the Le Morne peninsula, on the island's south-west coast, with the green wall of Le Morne Brabant rising directly behind the gardens. The mountain is UNESCO-listed and keeps the beach in shade through the later afternoon. Beyond the reef, the wind that draws kitesurfers from across the world builds through the day; inside the lagoon, the water stays flat.

Every one of its 172 suites and its private villa comes with a St. Regis Butler, a service the brand has kept since 1904. The architecture is colonial in spirit, built in dark timber and local stone, closer to a private estate than a resort. Seven restaurants, a 2,000 m² spa and a kids' club named for the kitesurfers overhead fill the rest of the day.
