Colour and calm on the wild south coast
SO Sofitel Mauritius sits at Bel Ombre, where the island's wild south coast meets forested mountains and a protected lagoon. Thai architect Lek Bunnag shaped the resort's curved white pavilions, and the late Kenzo Takada dressed them in the bright colour and playful detail that give the SO name its character.
A beachfront pool cut in the shape of a panga, the blade once used to harvest sugar cane, runs the length of the garden. From there, guests are a short walk from two restaurants, Le Takamaka's poolside bar, and SoSPA's open-air hammam and plunge pools.
