Raffles Seychelles sits on a forested hillside above Anse Takamaka, on the north shore of Praslin. Opened in 2011, it was the first Raffles resort anywhere in the world, and eighty-seven pool villas still cascade down toward the beach much as they did then, some reached by mountain paths, others set low among beachfront gardens.
Views from the highest villas run out over the palm forest to Curieuse Island, and the ancient coco de mer palms of the Vallée de Mai lie a short drive inland. Closer to home, sixteen rescued Aldabra giant tortoises graze the grounds, thirteen spa pavilions sit between sea-view terraces and forest clearings, and three restaurants cover breakfast through to late-night sushi.
