Park Hyatt Zanzibar occupies two buildings on the beachfront in Stone Town, one of them Mambo Msiige, a Zanzibari mansion with roots in the 17th century. Its name means "not to be copied," and the carved courtyard at its centre still sets the tone for the hotel around it.
The newer Zamani Residence connects to the old mansion and holds the hotel's dining rooms, an oceanfront infinity pool and a small spa. Stone Town's alleys, markets and the House of Wonders are all a short walk from the front door.
