A peninsula at the edge of Chwaka Bay
Konokono Beach Resort sits on the Michamvi Peninsula, on Zanzibar's south-east coast, where several kilometres of white sand run along a shoreline still bordered by forest. More than 40% of the grounds are kept wild, part of the wider Jozani Forest-Chwaka Bay Conservation Area, and it is not unusual to see red colobus monkeys or an Aders' duiker cross a path between the villas.
Garden and beachfront villas sit among the trees a short walk from the main pool and restaurant, while a long jetty leads out to Isaraya, five villas built directly over the lagoon with their own overwater restaurant and bar. A single Jungle Spa, set in an open-air pavilion, serves guests from both sides of the resort.
