Fifteen pavilions, one private garden
Kilindi Zanzibar sits on a rise above Kendwa, on the island's north coast, where fifteen white-domed pavilions are set apart from one another across fifty acres of tropical garden. The resort was originally built as a private retreat for Benny Andersson of ABBA, and its architecture still reads that way: Scandinavian restraint under Zanzibari arches and hand-shaped domes.
Every pavilion has its own plunge pool, an open-air rainfall shower annexe, and a dedicated butler who plans each meal, whether on the terrace, the beach, or floating in the pool itself. Beyond the gardens, half a kilometre of white sand runs the length of the property, with a 25-metre infinity pool and waterfall bar set above it. Kilindi takes guests aged eighteen and over only, and is best known as a honeymoon and couples' address.

Sunset Dhow Cruise
Guests sail out from Kendwa on a traditional dhow for champagne and canapés as the sun goes down over the channel.
Where to eat
Kilindi keeps to one restaurant, moving the setting rather than the menu: terrace by day, beach or in-villa by arrangement.
