Essque Zalu Zanzibar sits in a private cove at Nungwi, on the island's north-eastern tip, with forest at its back and the Indian Ocean at its door. The resort makes little attempt to blend into the landscape: its Makuti-thatched roof, the tallest on Zanzibar, rises over suites and villas set among the trees.
