Emerald Maldives Resort & Spa sits on Fasmendhoo, a private 20-hectare island in Raa Atoll, reached by a scenic seaplane flight or a short domestic flight and speedboat transfer from Malé. A member of The Leading Hotels of the World, the resort was built with bamboo, natural stone and langhi langhi leaves, and set an early priority on energy efficiency and environmental preservation.
The island's 120 villas split evenly between beach and open water, wrapped by 1.5 kilometres of soft white sand. Four restaurants run on a deluxe all-inclusive format, from an international beachfront buffet to a Latin American grill and an Asian dining room set in the island's tropical interior, alongside a Balinese-style spa and a full watersports and diving programme.
