Bawe Island opened in 2024 on a private island of more than thirty hectares, a fifteen-minute speedboat ride from Stone Town on Zanzibar's west coast. Seventy villas sit among indigenous forest and mangrove, each with its own pool and a butler on call, from garden-facing suites to two categories raised over the lagoon.
The Cocoon Collection resort sits inside the Changuu-Bawe Marine Conservation Area, a reef it helped establish with the Zanzibar government. Four restaurants, a Healing Earth spa and the island's own dive centre fill the days between; Zanzibar's largest solar park and a desalination plant run quietly behind the scenes.
