Alphonse Island Lodge

A private coral atoll in Seychelles' Outer Islands, with world-class flats fishing, house-reef diving and a resident turtle research team.

A coral atoll, quietly wild

Alphonse sits alone in Seychelles' Outer Islands, a coral atoll roughly 400 kilometres southwest of Mahé and reached by a one-hour flight over open ocean. Its narrow strip of land is ringed by reef and bordered by white sand, with the lagoon dropping quickly into deep water just offshore.

The island built its name on fly fishing first, for flats few other destinations can match, and has since grown an equally serious diving and conservation programme around it. A resident team has tracked nesting green and hawksbill turtles here since 2007, one of the longest-running studies of its kind in Seychelles.
