La Maison 20 Degrés Sud sits behind an old oak door at Pointe Malartic, on the northern tip of Mauritius, where a former coconut grove runs down to the Grand Baie lagoon. It is the island's only Relais & Châteaux property, and an adults-only one: 36 rooms and suites, across five categories, in low buildings dressed by Flamant Home Interior in a retro, island-chic style.
Three restaurants cover the ground, from an evening aboard the 1927 motor launch Lady Lisbeth to a four-seat chef's table beside the kitchen. The Secret Spa, the only Relais & Châteaux spa in the Mascarene Islands, sits within its own garden, and two pools give guests a choice of still water away from the lagoon.
